Gelegen op 1850 meter boven de zeespiegel in het hart van de Hautes Alpes, Vars is uitgegroeid tot een van de meest bekende winter- en zomersportgebieden van de Zuidelijke Alpen. Ze omringd inderdaad met de omliggende bergtoppen boven 3000 meter (Massif des Ecrins en Queyras) en geniet van de sneeuw op grote hoogte, badend in de helderheid van een mediterraan klimaat. Het skigebied van Vars-Risoul Forêt Blanche strekt zich uit over 185 km aan skipistes, skiën voor alle niveaus, van klein tot de groot! Gasten kunnen eveneens genieten van andere winterse activiteiten, zoals rodelen, sneeuwschoenwandelingen, langlaufen, freeride ...
